Weight Loss
Wits' End focuses on providing groups or one to one counselling to support weight loss and weight management. You may join and attend no matter what diet you choose to do and may in fact not be doing any diet at all but rather wanting to understand your eating behaviour. We hold the following groups: Mondays - 6pm - Abergavenny Tuesdays - 5.15 and 6.15pm - Cwmbran Wednesdays - 6.00pm - Chepstow Thursdays - 6.00 pm - Whitchurch, Cardiff. Why would I need counselling? Surely it's just about eating less / moving more? With obesity become a bigger problem every day, those who are overweight often feel accused and ashamed. Despite trying every diet possible, life is a constant stuggle and they start to demonise food. Losing weight and eating "the right food" becomes an obsession - as does their self-loathing when the diet doesn't work. We have lost our way with food and sadly no longer know who to trust. At Wits End, we are different. We explain how the body loses weight, how it affects your organs and hormones and what the likely causes of your weight gain are. We address different medical conditions and medication which may be slowing your weight loss down. We don't just say "drink plenty of water", we explain what it's doing to help rid your body of fat. We explain the effects of exercise and which is best to help you when. We explain the effects of alcohol and plateauing - why and when it happens and what you can do to minimise the effect. We help you identify your trigger foods and trigger situations and learn skills to deal with them differently. We explain the different types of motivation and how to recharge it when you lose interest. We help you build your self esteem and confidence, deal with stress and negative hurtful comments as well as many other skills that you will be able to use in every area of your life. Best of all, we will help you with the support of your group to restore a postive relationship with food again. Emotions play a huge part in over-eating - how many times have you heard people say "I'm a comfort eater". We help you find different ways to deal with the "discomfort" that makes you turn to food. There are 2 types of support group:
Casual - just pop in to be weighed, have a quick chat and cup of coffee with your friends and ask for any help you may need. There is no charge for these Pop Ins. Formal - These are closed weekly groups of maximum 12 people which last for an hour and are designed to form a cohesive bond of trust between members. This encourages each person go through a process of self awareness and personal growth in a safe environment contributing to quick, effective and long lasting weight management. Clients need to request to join these groups and are expected to commit on a monthly basis for as long as it takes for them to lose the weight and maintain with confidence. These groups cost £5 per head per week paid monthly in advance. We will come to you!The flexibility of Wits End Weight includes being able to run from a number of different locations in South Wales. If there isn't one close to you, get a few friends to join and we will come to you.
